I collect the cedar from the forest. This is a downed tree from a fire.
I cut the wood into 28 inch lengths and then split and cut it to manageable pieces.
I then take the split pieces and cut them to size and wax then ends and store them to dry till they are used.
I then lay out the bore after the piece is cut in two and then I gouge out the center.
I then use a drawknife and a block plane as well as sand paper to shape the flute body.
I use the traditional method of burning the sound holes. All flutes are tuned using an electronic tuner to 440 hz.
I perform for local events such as poetry readings , weddings, church services.
I now have a new cd called voices on the wind. It is available for $15 which includes shipping. You can also download the cd on most streaming services. I-tunes, amazon music, spotify, etc; I also have two you tube videos that you can view by going to my channel Joey Carroll Song of the sea . Contact me if you would like to purchase one.
